
One more day of warm, above normal temperatures before scattered showers and thunderstorms move into the area Sunday afternoon bringing with it a sharp drop in temperatures.
“A strong cold front moves through Sunday night and Monday bringing a line of thunderstorms (severe possible), and a significant cold snap,” the National Weather Service (NWS) says. “Lows Tuesday and Wednesday will be below freezing for many (the Gainesville area included) and may pose a risk for spring crops and vegetation.”
And the “S” word is also in the equation.

Mostly clear, with a low around 50. East wind around 5 mph.

A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Low around 47. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Rain showers before 5pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. High near 58. West wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
