Rihanna Opens Up About Her ‘Struggle’ to Embrace Her Natural Hair

Rihanna is opening up about her hair journey.

The singer and beauty mogul, 37, spoke about embracing her natural hair on the Couch by Lena Situations podcast in an episode that was released on Friday, Oct. 24, but was filmed before her third pregnancy was announced.

For the episode, the star wore a strapless gold dress that was gathered around the middle to help conceal her baby bump.

While promoting her brand Fenty Beauty’s haircare line, Rihanna said that learning to love her hair was a “struggle” that ultimately inspired her products.

“We’ve always been taught to love what you don’t have, especially when it comes to hair,” she explained. “If you have straight hair, you want it to be bigger. If you have big, curly hair, you want it to be straighter and thinner.”

She continued, “That was a struggle for me. Falling in love with my hair again was the biggest inspiration for me to create this brand. I wanted products that not just worked, but more importantly, I wanted them to repair your hair and replenish your hair every step of the way.”

The “We Found Love” singer also admitted that she’s experienced self-doubt in both her beauty business and when creating music.

“When I make my albums, I get to a point where I think, ‘Wow, I’ve lived with it for so long, I know it works, but now I’m about to give it to the world. Is it right? Is it right yet?'” she recalled. “I experience that with all of my product development. If you’re creative, you’re gonna have doubt.”

Rihanna welcomed her third baby, Rocki Irish Mayers, with rapper A$AP Rocky on Saturday, Sept. 13. She shared the news on social media, posting the first few photos of her newborn.

In one photo, Rihanna could be seen holding baby Rocki, who was wearing a pink onesie. She also included a snap of her baby’s pink gloves, which had ribbons lacing them up the top.

“Rocki Irish Mayers Sept 13 2025 🎀,” the musician captioned the photos, tagging Rocky.

The couple, who have been together since 2020, revealed that they were expecting baby No. 3 on May 4. Rihanna debuted her baby bump while walking around New York City, and the Long. Live. A$AP artist, 36, confirmed the happy news on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet.

The pair are already parents to two sons: RZA, born in 2022, and Riot, who arrived in 2023.
