Rainfall has briefly stalled formal search efforts for a Gainesville native who went missing nearly two weeks ago on Blood Mountain.
Charles Hosch, age 67, currently of Dallas, Texas, was last seen hiking the Byron Herbert Reece Trail on Nov. 11. Since then, law enforcement and volunteers from across the North Georgia mountains have been working to locate him.
Hosch’s daughter, Julia Hosch, posted in a blog on Charles’ law firm’s website that expected rain Saturday led law enforcement to temporarily suspend their search efforts. However, she said some are still looking for Charles.
“While formal operations are paused, we are conducting focused search efforts with experienced hikers and former military personnel on the ground, supported by drone operations,” Hosch said. “The weather conditions are better than forecasted.”
In a post Friday evening, Julia Hosch offered her thanks to the hundreds who have joined the search effort.
“We remain profoundly grateful to the 268 search and rescue professionals who have dedicated themselves to finding Charles,” Hosch said.
