A pedestrian was pronounced deceased following a collision on Ga. 11 near Shenandoah Drive in Winder.
The Winder Police Department made a Facebook post Wednesday morning that they closed the area to investigate, detouring traffic around the scene.
A preliminary investigation by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) indicates a Kia Optima was traveling north on the highway while a pedestrian was traveling south in the northbound lane.
The Kia struck the pedestrian, with the impact sending the pedestrian to the east shoulder of the roadway.
The pedestrian was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville where they were pronounced dead.
The identities of the driver and pedestrian have not been released at this time.
