Oscar Nominations 2026: “Sinners” Smashes Record Held by “Titanic” and “La La Land” to Score the Most Nods Ever

Sinners just shattered a record by earning the most Oscar nominations of all time.

The nominees for the 98th Academy Awards were announced by Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman on Thursday, Jan. 22, including for a brand-new category: Best Casting.

This year, a total of 201 movies were in contention for Best Picture consideration, but only 10 made the cut.

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners earned 16 total nominations, including Best Picture, breaking a record for the most nominations for a single film ever. The previous record holders were Titanic (1997), La La Land (2016) and All About Eve (1950), which each had 14 total.

Conan O’Brien is returning to host the Oscars live on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming on Hulu. (Starting in 2029, the award show will air on YouTube.)
