Operation Safe Streets led to 22 arrests and the seizure of a deadly amount of drugs and several firearms according to Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman. The sheriff said the collaborative effort was to continue the reduction of the crime rate in Columbus.
The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Collaborative Intelligence Group partnered with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operation Unit, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Russell County Sheriff’s Office and the Phenix City Police Department to conduct Operation Safe Streets.
This operation focused on making impactful arrests to continue the downward trend in crime reduction in Muscogee County. We focused on wanted fugitives and narcotics investigations in Muscogee County and Russell County. Operation Safe Streets led to the arrests of 22 individuals, clearing 55 arrest warrants, and the seizure of trafficking amounts of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Cocaine.
The amount of Fentanyl seized had the potential to kill 45,000 individuals. The total value of drugs seized is $522,270.00 We will continue to fight for a safer Muscogee County and neighboring counties.
Operation Safe Streets yielded the following:
•88 grams of Fentanyl with a street value of $26,400.00
•4.5 Kilos of Methamphetamine with a street value of $421,100.00
•1.45 pounds of Cocaine with a street value of $66,070.00
•1.9 pounds of Marijuana with a street value of $8,700.00
•1 Bottle of Promethazine (Schedule III Drug)
•8 Firearms Seized
•1 Stolen Vehicle Recovered
•2 Vehicles Seized
•$11,807.00 US Currency
