Olympian Mallory Swanson Welcomes First Baby with MLB Player Husband Dansby Swanson

Mallory Swanson is officially a mom!

The Olympian and USWNT player, 27, has welcomed her first baby with her MLB player husband Dansby Swanson, announcing the news on Instagram. In a black-and-white photo, the couple could be seen reaching out their hands as their little one grasped one of their fingers.

“Josie James Swanson 💕 we love you more than you’ll ever know babygirl,” the couple wrote in their joint caption.

Back in May, Mallory, who also plays for the Chicago Stars, and her husband Dansby, who plays for the Chicago Cubs. shared a sweet announcement that they were expecting their first baby together.

“Our greatest blessing 🤍,” the soccer star wrote on Instagram. The couple wore coordinating all-white outfits for the maternity shoot and held up sonogram images of their baby. The announcement was met with an outpouring of support from the professional sports community and fans alike.

Mallory’s U.S. soccer teammate Sophia Wilson, who announced her own pregnancy in March, wrote “My sis 🥹❤️🤞🏽.” Dansby commented “I love you ❤️,” while another teammate, Alyssa Naeher, wrote “So so so beyond happy for the both of you!! Can’t wait to meet the little Swanson ❤️.”

The Chicago Stars also sent their well wishes, writing, “Our hearts just grew!!! Congrats, Mal & Dansby 🥹.” Dansby’s teammate Jameson Taillon wrote, “congrats guys!!! Can’t wait to meet my new best friend!” Both the Cubs and the U.S. Women’s National Team sent congratulatory wishes in the comment section as well.

Mallory and Dansby tied the knot on Dec. 10, 2022. In an Instagram post on their second anniversary in 2024, Mallory wrote, “My love grows for you every single day & December 10th will always be my favorite day ♥️.” The soccer star’s wedding gown was an off-the-shoulder chiffon and lace gown with a long train, while Dansby opted for a classic black tux complete with a bow tie.

The “enchanted forest ceremony” was held at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga. The couple told PEOPLE exclusively at the time, “To get married in front of our family and friends is so special. It means that we are becoming one and get to impact God’s kingdom together.”

The couple started dating in 2017, when Dansby’s former teammate at the Atlanta Braves, Jace Peterson, urged him to meet his sister-in-law, Mallory. Dansby proposed to Mallory in 2021.
