North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Alumni Association recently announced the 2025 Alumni Award recipients during the college’s annual homecoming.

Recipients are nominated and selected for the Young Alumni Award, Bridge Builder Award, Alumni Career Achievement Award and Alumni Hall of Fame Award based on their outstanding contributions to the college and community.

Sharon Landrum of Winterville, Ga., was named the 2025 Alumni Hall of Fame Award winner.

Landrum graduated from NGTC in 1980 with a degree in Data Processing and began her career in the banking industry before becoming a programmer at Bigelow-Sanford, Inc. and later working to become director of information technology (IT) at a restaurant company in Madison, Ga.

She retired from The Commercial Bank in 2020 where she was responsible for IT.

The 2025 Young Alumni Award was presented to Brenton “Chase” Meeler of Lavonia, Ga.

Meeler graduated from NGTC in 2021 with a degree in Advanced Manufacturing Systems and is currently pursuing a Networking Specialist degree.

After graduation, Meeler was part of the robotics startup at Carry-On Trailers and was later hired to lead the robotics startup at ASI Southeast in Eastanollee, Ga.

Chase continues to be involved with the Advanced Manufacturing Systems program at NGTC by serving as a member of the advisory board, assisting with recruiting visits and offering support to current students.

Tim Bennett of Carnesville, Ga., was named the 2025 Bridge Builder Award winner.

Bennett is an alumnus of NGTC with a Certified Manufacturing Specialist certificate and served as an instructor and director of economic development at the college for more than 20 years prior to his retirement in 2023.

Tim continues to serve the region  in his current role as the apprenticeship academy manager at Haering Precision in Lavonia, Ga.

In this role, he has become a driving force in recruiting and mentoring young talent, bridging the gap between technical education and high-demand careers.

Through strong partnerships between NGTC and Haering, Bennett ensures students are connected to apprenticeship pathways that provide both immediate employment and long-term career advancement.

The 2025 Career Achievement Award was presented to Ronnie Ayers of Toccoa, Ga.

Ayers graduated from NGTC’s Welding and Joining Technology and Machine Tool Technology programs in 1989 and 1991, respectively, while maintaining full-time employment.

Following graduation, Ronnie continued to hone his craft within the industry prior to accepting a full-time teaching position at NGTC in 2000.

Ayers has been dedicated to NGTC’s Welding program and students, successfully growing the program from one instructor with 15 students to four instructors with more than 140 students combined.

“On behalf of the NGTC Alumni Association, I would like to congratulate our 2025 Alumni Award recipients,” said Emily Sullens, NGTC Alumni Association president and career services coordinator. “These individuals are a true representation of the spirit of NGTC, and we know they will continue to inspire others and impact their communities. I would also like to extend thanks to everyone who attended our annual homecoming. It was great to fellowship with NGTC alumni, faculty and staff!”
