The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) awarded its 2025 Opportunity Grants on Friday.

The grants totaled $200,000 and were given to four area non-profit organizations. Abi Carter, Vice President of NGCF, said the goal of the grants, and of the foundation as a whole, is to help nonprofits in North Georgia attain their goals.

“We have our own grant funding and endowments, and we are able to support the nonprofits through education opportunities, grant funding and the like,” Carter said on WDUN’s The Drive at 5 on Friday, Nov. 14. “We also can support individuals by helping them open philanthropic funds and invest their money back into the local community.”

The largest the four grants given by NGCF on Friday was to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier. NGCF awarded the Clubs a $75,000 grant that Carter said will go towards launching a middle school program for the Walters Club on Memorial Park Drive in Gainesville.

“This expansion is going to help close a significant service gap, as there currently are no after-school programs available for middle school students in Hall County,” Carter said. “This will be focused on Chestatee Academy and South Hall Middle, both Title I schools having our low-income families with the most need.”

Grants were also given to two different non-profits in White County, with Cleveland Care Center receiving a $55,000 grant towards the installation of an elevator in their facility, and the Catalyst Christian Learning Center receiving a $30,000 grant to help them extend their programming to include students at White County Middle School.

NGCF also awarded a $40,000 grant to J’s Place Recovery Center to aid in their efforts to expand their services to an additional facility in Dawson County.
