Netflix has found its next word-of-mouth phenomenon — and it was filmed right here in Georgia. The streamer’s new six-episode limited series His & Hers is currently dominating global Top 10 lists and sparking conversations for its intense mystery, shocking twists, and dark psychological themes.

With a loaded cast featuring Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, and Pablo Schreiber, the series blends small-town Southern atmosphere with brutal crime, unreliable narrators, and a finale that viewers say left their jaws “on the floor.” Bernthal is no stranger to Georgia shoots, having filmed The Walking Dead here during the early 2010s. Pablo Schreiber is known for his work in Halo and Orange Is the New Black, and also through voice acting — he lent his voice to Kareem Zahmani in Star Wars: Visions, the anime anthology project produced for Disney+.

Netflix's His and Hers

Filmed in Georgia for Netflix

Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, His & Hers was shot throughout Georgia, bringing a distinctly southern tone to its murder mystery. Locations include Atlanta and Dahlonega, where the series’ tension between big-city media and small-town secrecy plays out.

The production continues Netflix’s long streak of shooting prestige thrillers in the state, reinforcing Georgia’s reputation as a crime-drama powerhouse.

What It’s About

he story centers on Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal), who is investigating the brutal murder of a young woman in Dahlonega. His estranged wife Anna Andrews (Tessa Thompson), once a rising news anchor, tries to revive her career by covering the case — placing herself directly at odds with Harper.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads:

“Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: HIS & HERS, which means someone is always lying.”

What starts as a straightforward homicide quickly becomes something far darker. Bodies pile up, secrets surface, and everyone seems to be hiding something. The series leans heavily into unreliable narration, forcing viewers to constantly reassess who they’re rooting for as the lies stack up.

This One Gets Wild — And Dark

Fair warning: His & Hers doesn’t hold back. The tone is adult, the violence is graphic, and there are explicit sexual themes that play directly into the characters’ motives and psychological unraveling.

It’s not a show for kids — or for viewers who prefer their mysteries on the lighter side.

But for everyone else? It’s an addictive six-hour binge.

As one reviewer put it:

His & Hers grabs you by the throat, shakes you around and refuses to let go.”

A Finale That Left Viewers Speechless

Without spoiling specifics, the last 10 minutes of the finale are already being talked about as one of the best twist reveals in modern TV crime storytelling. The series plants its clues early, but conceals them through deceptive editing and perspective tricks — resulting in a final truth that’s both horrifying and brilliantly constructed.

A Global Streaming Hit

Accorsing to Deadline, in less than two weeks, His & Hers has become one of Netflix’s most-watched new shows of the year:

  • 49.4 million total views so far

  • 29.5 million views in its first full week

  • Debuted at No. 1 in 50+ countries

  • Added 20 more countries to the No. 1 list the following week

  • Outperformed every other Netflix series worldwide, including Stranger Things during the same tracking window

Last week, it crushed the competition:

  • His & Hers: 29.5M views

  • #2 Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials: 9.9M views

As of today (January 21, 2026), it still has 78 days left to qualify for Netflix’s all-time Top 10 list. For comparison, the current #10 slot (“The Night Agent” Season 1) sits at 98.2M views.

If global buzz continues, His & Hers could absolutely get there.
