Mr. James Daniel Scott went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
A son of the late Marvin Scott and Hazel Jenkins Scott, he was born September 6, 1954, in Stephens County, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Scott and Johnny Scott.
James was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and a past member of Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. James had spent his working career in the poultry industry, starting at Fieldale Corporation, later Cagle Poultry and retiring from Harrison Poultry. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing and cherished the laughter and fellowship of frequent family gatherings. James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as a cherished brother, trusted uncle and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart and the love he shared with those around him. Above all, James’s greatest joy in life was his family.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Nancy Carswell Scott; son, “Jamey” (James Daniel Scott, Jr.) of Toccoa; granddaughters, Reese Scott and Jaimee Scott; sister Barbara Willis of Toccoa; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Charlene Carswell of Alpharetta, Georgia, Loraine and Van Mattison of Eastanollee, Georgia, David and Bea Carswell of Hollywood, Georgia, Chris and Nichole Carswell of Toccoa and Shirley Scott of Toccoa; special friend and cousin, James Bowden; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 28, 2026, 2 p.m. at Chopped Oak Baptist Church with Dr. Don Samples officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Hadden Carswell, Justin Willis, Brian Carswell, John Scott, Ben Carswell and Jay Krous.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Chopped Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Daniel Scott.
