Miranda Lambert is grieving her beloved chihuahua after 15 years of keeping the dog continuously at her side.
On Sunday, Dec. 28, the country singer, 42, shared a collection of photos and videos on Instagram of her holding her dog Cher that were taken throughout the years, as she announced that the canine had died the day before.
One photo showed Lambert clutching the dog in the press room at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM), while another showed the pooch outside on a sunny day.
“Our sweet bear Cher crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday,” Lambert captioned her tribute. “Cher gave us 15 years of love and all the chihuahua attitude and energy she had to give. And if you have ever had a chi chi you know what I mean.”

Lambert recalled putting the dog in her overall pockets when she adopted her from a rescue shelter in 2010. At the time, Cher was just 10 weeks old.
She immediately began bringing Cher to events and even matched her dress to the canine when attending the ACM Awards in Las Vegas that same year. “The House That Built Me” singer said she brought the dog with her to every tour thereafter.

The couple, who privately tied the knot in January 2019, now have just one rescue dog left. Lambert also included a video of herself doing a pushup with Cher on her back and the canine playing with other dogs in her post.
“We sure are ready for a break from the heartbreak y’all, but they are worth every tear we have cried,” the Grammy winner added of her rescue dogs. “Animals bring so much joy but I sure do wish dog years didn’t go by so fast. Rescue’s forever ❤️.”
The longtime advocate of rescue animals concluded the post with a photo of chihuahua Cher alongside her rescue retriever mix Bellamy, whom she adopted in 2013.
Just last month, Lambert revealed on Instagram that two of her miniature horses, Sugar Pie and Adrianna, had died on the same day.
She shared several photos of herself with the animals as she expressed the “joy” they brought her over the last 18 years.
“The best part about being an animal mom is the joy. The worst part is when the time comes to say goodbye,” said Lambert, adding, “Godspeed little bitty’s. I know you are both in greener pastures as I type this. I’ll see y’all again one day. Big love 🩵🐴🐴🥲💔.”
