Wen made headlines on Nov. 13, when footage of him jumping a barricade and rushing Grande, 32, at the Wicked premiere in Singapore hit the internet. Videos from the incident show Grande’s costar, Cynthia Erivo, placing herself between him and the pop star.
After the altercation, the Australian man posted a video from the incident to his Instagram, writing, “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You ❤️.”

Following the incident, Wen spent nine days in jail after pleading guilty to one charge of public nuisance on Nov. 17. He was subsequently deported back to Australia, after being banned from Singapore, according to the BBC News, CBS News and ABC News, all of which cited the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and local media.
During a Nov. 20 episode of the Today show, Erivo, 38, shared what was going through her mind when she saw the fan rushing Grande. “I was really thinking, I just wanted to make sure my friend was safe,” Erivo explained. “I’m sure he didn’t mean us harm, but I just, you never know with those things and I wanted to make sure that she was okay. That was my first instinct.”

Wen has become known for crashing events. He previously jumped on stage with Katy Perry, the Weeknd and the Chainsmokers.
Grande has not yet spoken out about the incident, however, she has been candid in the past about dealing with PTSD following the 2017 bombing at her Manchester concert, which killed 22 people.
“Yeah, it’s a real thing. I know those families and my fans, and everyone there experienced a tremendous amount of it as well,” Grande told British Vogue in 2018. “It’s hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss … I feel like I shouldn’t even be talking about my own experience – like I shouldn’t even say anything. I don’t think I’ll ever know how to talk about it and not cry.”
