A student at Lanier College and Career Academy was arrested Friday after he allegedly made threats to the campus.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office reported that the school’s principal alerted the School Resource Officer just after 1 p.m. Friday, about threatening reports linked to Cesar Noriega, 18, of Gainesville. Noriega is a student at LCCA.
HCSO said an investigation revealed that multiple students had reported Noriega made verbal threats to “shoot up” the school. Noriega also reportedly made shooting motions with his hands in the direction of other students as he was discussing the threats.
School officials searched Noriega’s book bag and his vehicle, and no weapons were found.
The student was transported from the school to the Hall County Jail. He is being held without bond on a felony charge of terroristic threats and acts.
The Hall County School District released a statement on the matter:
“This is a serious violation of the Hall County School District Student Code of Conduct and will be dealt with accordingly,” HCSD said. “The safety of our students and staff is paramount.”
