The BLITZ Football Players of the Week are Cody McBrayer (Dawson County) and Chetley Cox (Union County). McBrayer won the Fan Vote with 8,286 of the 15,774 total votes. Cox was the BLITZ Pick.
CODY MCBRAYER – DAWSON COUNTY
Dawson County got back in the win column, and Cody McBrayer continued to churn out the yardage necessary for the offense to shine. The Tigers’ junior star running back rushed for 173 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the big win over Chestatee. For the season, McBrayer has 887 rushing yards and 11 TD, and now has three career BLITZ POW awards.
CHETLEY COX – UNION COUNTY
Union County was sans star QB Kamden Kendrick, who is unable to play under center the rest of the year due to a broken thumb. He’s able to play on defense with a cast, but the Panthers were left without a QB. Enter Chetley Cox, who had been hauling in passes this season from Kendrick. The junior stepped up in a major way, and passed for 111 yards and a TD while rushing for 52 and another score in a surprising win for Union County. This is his first POW award.
