*A Fulton County judge on Tuesday tossed racketeering charges against dozens of defendants accused of a yearslong conspiracy to halt the construction of a police and firefighter training facility that critics call “Cop City.” The AJC reports Judge Kevin Farmer said Attorney General Chris Carr didn’t have the authority to secure the 2023 indictments under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) law. Carr’s office said in a statement that they plan to appeal.

*The final print edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution rolled off the presses overnight. It’s been 157 years since the first copies were printed. Now, as it was announced earlier this year, the AJC is converting to a digital-only publication, which many newspapers have done, effective New Year’s Day.

*Eleven-year-old Nolan McGill, who lives in Chattanooga, gained attention recently for refusing to sing “Rocky Top,” the University of Tennessee fight song, during a class performance early this month. And for doing so, the elementary school student is set to attend the Sugar Bowl to see his beloved Georgia Bulldogs play Ole Miss New Year’s night. His mom shared a TikTok video of him shaking his head during the performance, which received over 120,000 views. His viral moment led to a visit from Fanatics, which provides sports apparel and other related items, who rewarded him with the special surprise.
