Jennifer Lawrence Shocks Jimmy Fallon by Dramatically Sobbing During “Tonight Show” Appearance

Jennifer Lawrence showed off her acting chops during her most recent late-night appearance.

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the 35-year-old Oscar winner appeared on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During her interview with host Jimmy Fallon, Lawrence was jokingly overcome with emotion and broke into dramatic sobs multiple times.

“I’m nervous, I’m very nervous,” Lawrence admitted as she spoke about how she hadn’t been on the talk show in eight years.

After recalling how she found herself annoying in interviews, The Hunger Games star joked that she wasn’t going to say a word during her conversation with Fallon. 

Of course, the interview continued, While discussing her new movie, Die My Love — which she stars in alongside Robert Pattinson — Lawrence teared up as she spoke about the movie, which follows a mother slowly sinking into madness.

“Lynne Ramsay is someone I’ve always wanted to work with,” she said of the film’s director. “So basically, she cracked it, and she’s a genius. And I can’t believe I’m still talking!”

Pretending to cry, Lawrence broke into loud wails to the surprise of Fallon.

“No, stop crying! Stop crying!” he told her. “No, this is fun! You’re having fun on a talk show! Stop crying. Just trust me, this is fun.”

Fallon, 51, was able to convince Lawrence to stop crying, but she ended up pretending to weep again while discussing about an incident of miscommunication that occurred while they filmed the movie in Canada.

“In Canada, they call the trailer ‘your room.’ We call trailers ‘trailers,’ because they’re trailers, and we call our room, like, the hotel room that we’re living in for months,” she explained before adding that her producing partner “got a text from our line producer that was like, ‘These three background kids have nowhere to stay. Can they use your room?’ ”

She continued, “She’s like, ‘Well, geez, I don’t know. All my stuff’s in there.’ And the line producer’s getting more and more flabbergasted,” Lawrence recalled. “He’s like, ‘I’ll help you move your stuff!’ ”

The star explained that the line producer ended up saying he’d ask the director if they could stay in her “room,” to which she and her producing partner replied, “No don’t ask the director to move out of her home!”

“This whole back-and-forth where he thinks we’re crazy, we obviously think he’s crazy, and then it was just a misunderstanding,” she continued before bursting into another pretend crying moment.

“Oh my gosh,” Fallon laughed. “Unbelievable. You’re unbelievable.”

Die My Love premieres in theaters on Friday, Nov. 7.
