The Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation has donated $1 million to the Hall County School District to expand its Ivester Early College program.

The district said during the Hall County Board of Education meeting on Monday that the funding will bring science classrooms and a Nurse Aide Program to Ivester North campus, which is located at the former White Sulphur Elementary school.

The donation brings parity between Ivester Early College Main campus and Ivester Early College North campus.

According to the district’s announcement, the funding will allow for the north campus to have a science lab, certified nurse aide lab and classroom, hallway renovation and girls/boys bathroom renovations.

The updates will also reduce class size for many classes that have been at capacity or full at the main Ivester campus, and double the CNA offerings from 28 per year to 56 per year.

HCSD said the additional Ivester North Campus also reduces travel time for students on the north end of the county at Chestatee, East Hall, and North Hall high schools.
