The Lady Tigers had a tough season with just six wins for the second time in a 3-year span. Just a couple years removed from a Sweet 16 run, Commerce hopes to get back to that level as coach Michael Palmer takes over the program.
PRESEASON INFO
2024-25 Record: 6-20; No Playoffs
Head Coach: Michael Palmer (1st Season)
Returning Starters: 1
Key Departures: N/A
Key Players: Vee ‘Vi’Tory’ Williams, Jurnee Vann, Jayah Vann
“We have three 9th-graders in Mary Waters, Niya Daniels, and Kenyanna Jackson will all play significant minutes for us and the return of Taylor Clark (transfer from Lakeview) will be a tremendous addition to our young team. Ciara Rucker will play a big role in the pant and on defense. Seniors Jurnee and Jayah Vann will add a lot of punch to the line up in defense and in depth, as well as returning forward Arianna Pattman,” says Palmer.
Offense: “We’d like to play at a fast pace for 32 minutes as much as possible, we hope that are defense will lead to a lot of our offense.”
Strengths: New culture
Biggest Challenges: “We have lots of youth and we have very few returning starters that have played varsity minutes together, our region is brutal with some of the state’s best coaches and best teams. Gibson, Dillard, Jones and Olson are all very good coaches and all of their teams bring back a lot of talent. Learning to win a region as strong as our will be a challenge. Learning to play cohesively will be a challenge that this team failed last year.”

“Our expectations will always be the same year in year out, to grow spiritually, to have growth in the classroom, on the court, and in our relationships with one another,” states Palmer. “My expectations for myself is to leave this program better than I found it so I plan to work hard on that daily.”
