The Henry Repeating Arms Special Products Division (SPD) is their take on the legendary Skunkworks program. It’s a place where mad scientists come together to work their magic on lever-action platforms. The first release was the HUSH series of rifles. These were lever-action rifles optimized for suppression. They included M-LOK rails and carbon-fiber barrels, something not commonly seen in lever actions. Next came the CRUSR. This rifle was chambered in the legendary 45-70 Gov’t cartridge to give guides, backcountry hunters, and adventurers the firepower needed to handle the largest North American game. But what about when that game is much smaller and much further away? That’s where the new SPD Predator comes in.
THE MOST ACCURATE LEVER RIFLE EVER
In fact, the SPD Predator isn’t just accurate for its class — it’s the most accurate lever-action rifle ever made, and the only one backed by a three-shot sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. Of course, that begs the question: have many people tried to make a lever-action rifle uber accurate? My guess is not, since bolt-action rifles took over. Anyway.
Every part was selected to meet real-world hunting needs: confidence over long distances, quick follow-up shots when targets won’t stay still, and dependability in less-than-ideal conditions. The rifle is chambered in 223/5.56 NATO, and the barrel is made of match-grade 416R stainless steel. It was then tension-wrapped in carbon fiber to reduce weight, control heat, and ensure outstanding shot-to-shot consistency. And of course, the muzzle is threaded for a suppressor. The Predator clearly comes from Henry’s Supreme family of rifles, as it accepts AR-style magazines.
The factory-tuned 4-pound trigger provides a clean, steady break and is user-adjustable, allowing hunters to customize it to their preferences. The gray laminate buttstock has an adjustable comb, guaranteeing a solid cheek weld whether you’re using optics or shooting prone. To get you ready in the field right out of the box, the rifle comes with a Harris S-LM bipod for immediate stability when the shot presents itself. So, really, this adds many of the features seen in the precision rifle world to a lever-action rifle.
