Ahead of the United States Grand Prix, 54% of survey respondents on SB Nation believed that McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was still going to win the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. And based on his comments in Austin ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Max Verstappen could have been part of that 54%.

However, Verstappen’s sweep of the weekend in Austin seems to have changed his mind.

Did it change yours?

Verstappen took home 33 points after winning both the F1 Sprint race on Saturday and the United States Grand Prix on Sunday, and the Red Bull driver now trails second-place Lando Norris by 26 points in the standings, and Piastri by 40 points. While Verstappen was adamant that he was just taking things “race by race” earlier in the week, the four-time champion admitted on Sunday evening that he has a real chance to win his fifth title now.

However, Piastri still has the lead in the championship race, and Norris is nipping at his teammate’s heels after a second-place finish in Austin. While Piastri remains atop the standings with 346 points, Norris is now just 14 points behind.

With the grid heading to Mexico for this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix, we wanted to see if results in Austin have truly changed your view of the title fight.
