The Hall County Board of Commissioners will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. regarding actions to take against the Planning Commission.

This meeting follows a third-party investigation that was conducted after the county self-reported seven instances of violations of Georgia’s Open Meetings Act.

District 3 Commissioner Gregg Poole said the individuals were given time to resign before the meeting, but they did not.

“So I will say that this could have been averted. It could have been avoided altogether. So we are here now, so we are going to deal with it,” Poole said.

Buford-based law firm Carothers and Mitchell said Planning Commission Chair and District 2 appointee Chris Braswell held regularly scheduled sessions with staff to discuss items on upcoming meeting agendas.

“Tomorrow, we’ll be voting on a resolution to move forward where the county will have to hire a special master to go through this, and in these meetings, every bit of the video footage that we have of these so-called meetings, all the third-party investigators, information that through his interview process will be brought up,” Poole said. “All our internal investigations were done by our County Administrator, our attorney, and the assistant county administrator, where they interviewed our staff.”

Poole added that every bit of evidence regarding the planning commission will come out.
