As three separate projects are underway in the Hall County School District, school officials provided updates on the ongoing construction at the facilities.
Two projects are improvements to Johnson and North Hall High Schools and the third project is the reconstruction of World Language Academy’s primary campus, which was demolished at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
Updates on the improvements are as follows:
Johnson High School
Renovations to Johnson High School include a three-story classroom addition and replacement of the school’s auxiliary gym.
The project has also seen renovation to some of JHS’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) classrooms and updates to the school’s Learning Commons, which is the equivalent of a library or media center.
The project is under the Parrish Construction Group. As of the last update, the building is constructed, with final touches such as signage and outer details underway. The district added that an accessible ramp to the building is in the process of being installed.
The district expects to have students utilizing the addition in January 2026.
North Hall High School
North Hall High School’s improvements also include a three-story addition and replacement of its auxiliary gym.
The renovation will move its main entrance to better meet the school’s administrative and security needs. The project will also connect the two buildings on campus, so students will no longer have to travel outside to get to classes. Additionally, renovations will update NHHS’s CTAE classrooms and will bring additional bathrooms to the campus.
The addition is under Carroll Daniel Construction Company, with the building well underway. The district said exterior brickwork for the building will be completed over the course of the month, and HVAC systems to be installed in December.
The updates are projected to be complete by June 2026.
World Language Academy
WLA’s elementary school campus on Winder Highway was demolished at the end of the 2025-26 school year to make room for the new facility. The school has temporarily moved into the former Oakwood Elementary School campus. OES closed at the end of the previous school year in order to combine with McEver Arts Academy to form Everwood Elementary School.
Carroll Daniel Construction Company is building the two-story building. The replacement building is in the preliminary stages. As of the last report, Mass Grading, CMU Foundations, and Detention Pond construction are in progress. Underslab Plumbing Rough-In and Pond Retaining Wall Footings are complete.
The project is expected to be completed by the start of the 2027-26 school year.
