Gainesville firefighters spent part of their Sunday keeping an eye on a fire at the Hall County landfill.
The fire, at 1700 Oakbrook Drive, was causing a lot of social media chatter into the night Sunday.
It is in a contained area and away from any water source.
Meanwhile, with the continued dry conditions in Hall County, the city’s ban on burn permits, issued March 28, remains in effect.
In White County, in an 11:45 Sunday night update, the White County Public Safety Department, said “fire crews had established a perimeter around the spot fire, which is currently estimated at approximately 30 acres. The original fire is estimated at 16 acres.
Crews will continue working tomorrow toward full containment. An additional U.S. Forest Service crew is expected to arrive to assist with operations.”
