Overnight and early Tuesday morning temperatures dipped below the freezing mark, leaving cold temperatures and winter advisories in effect throughout counties in northeast Georgia. While not all districts faced conditions with snow flurries and accumulations, a handful of counties in the North Georgia Mountains were not taking chances, regarding travel conditions for school buses and drivers.
While the City of Gainesville and Hall County’s Public Schools are OPEN for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as of this publication, other districts within the area are affected by the wintry conditions.
AccessWDUN received a few notices for school closures and delayed openings for Tuesday, November 11, 2025. They included the following:
Closed:
- Fannin County- Virtual learning day; Schools will be closed, but all directors, admin, and 12-month personnel should report on a two hour delay schedule if safe to do so.
- Habersham County – All Habersham County Schools will be closed for students and staff, Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
- Rabun County -County Schools will be closed to students and staff on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Twelve-month employees should report at 10 am if it is safe to do so.
- Towns County – Towns County Schools will have an Online Learning Day Tuesday, November 11th. Twelve-month employees should report at 10:00 AM if safe to do so.
- Tallulah Falls School will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
- Union County Schools – Schools will observe an at home learning day on Tuesday, November 11th. The Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony will be rescheduled for Wednesday, November 12th
Delayed Opening/Early Release:
- Dawson County Schools will have early release on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025! Elementary Schools release at 12:30 PM. Middle, Junior High, and High Schools release at 12:00 PM. Please also note that the district is closely monitoring current weather conditions. Updates regarding any changes to the district’s regular operating schedule will be communicated on the district website.
