HABERSHAM COUNTY, GA — The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is gearing up to spread holiday cheer this season with its inaugural Shop with a Hero 2025 event. Scheduled for December 19, the program aims to provide a brighter Christmas for middle school students across the county.
For its first year hosting the event, the Sheriff’s Office has set a goal to serve between 30 and 40 students. To ensure the assistance goes where it is needed most, the HCSO is collaborating closely with school counselors at the county’s three middle schools to identify students who would benefit from the program.
The community response has been robust, with the department raising approximately $12,000 to date. This total includes proceeds from previous department events, such as a car show held earlier this year, as well as significant contributions from local businesses and community leaders.
Notable donations include:
- $2,000 from The Baldwin Trading Post
- $1,500 from Billy Cain Ford of Cornelia
- $500 from local attorney and County Commissioner Bruce Harkness
- $250 from Trailwave Fiber
Sheriff Robin Krockum expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of generosity that made this pilot program possible.
“We appreciate the support we have received from the community, especially our local businesses, with our first inaugural Shop with a Hero event,” Sheriff Krockum said. “So far we have raised just over $12,000 and plan to help 30-40 local kids have a Merry Christmas.”
While this is the Sheriff’s Office’s first time organizing the event, they join a broader county effort to support local youth. Police agencies in Demorest, Cornelia, and Baldwin are currently conducting similar events for their respective municipalities.
