Gwinnett County officials cut the ribbon for the opening of the Singleton Park and Greenway in Norcross on Tuesday.

County officials said the project transformed the former Singleton Road Activity Building into a brand new community space.

The over 2-acre park features a playground, a covered picnic area, restroom facilities, a 41-space parking lot and a three-quarter mile,12-foot-wide concrete multiuse trail that connects Singleton Road to Dickens Road.

“This park is a space for connection and community,” Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson said. “With southwestern Gwinnett’s growth and increasing need for services and resources, the addition of this park reflects our belief that all residents deserve safe, peaceful and beautiful spaces to enjoy with their loved ones.”

The trail improvement is part of the 2018 Gwinnett Countywide Trails Master Plan, aiming to connect Norcross and Lilburn while providing residents with better access to outdoor recreation.

“This trail addition enhances the park’s amenities, encouraging healthy outdoor activity and creating a connection point for our community,” District 2 Commissioner Ben Ku said. “We’re proud to invest in a project that brings people closer to nature and each other.”

The park also features a 2,600-square-foot mural created by local youth and community members, led by Art in Motion and artist Ken Dushane.

The $6.4 million project was funded through the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program, the County’s Recreation Fund, Georgia’s Improving Neighborhood Outcomes and Disproportionately Impacted Communities Grant and a Community Development Block Grant.
