Girls basketball: Lumpkin, Bluff roll to wins

HIAWASSEE, Ga. – A 29-point second quarter pushed the Lumpkin County girls basketball team to the lead for good in a 75-31 win over Towns County on Tuesday.

Lumpkin County (3-0) scored 21 of the 29 second-quarter points from the 3-point line, and Alayna Lindley added 12 in the quarter — all from 3. She finished with 14 points.

Maddie Lee, who had a game-high 20 points, scored eight in the second, including six from 3.

Lumpkin County trailed after the opening quarter, 12-10. Lumpkin County led 39-21 at halftime and held Towns County to 10 points in the second half.

Ava Thompson and Mary Lee Durham led Towns County with 8 points each.

EK Reese added 14 points for Lumpkin County, Addison Parker had 7, and Reagan Richardson chipped in 6.

Cherokee Bluff 55, Central Gwinnett 23: Claire Carlson scored 23 points, and Halle Wilson had 12 to lead the Lady Bears to the win over Central Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Emeryie Jones added 8 points, and Audrey Graham had 6.
