DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — The Flowery Branch girls opened their season with a 38-21 win over Alpharetta on Saturday in the Roger Slaton Tip-off Classic at Dawson County.
The Lady Falcons (1-0) used a 16-1 fourth run to blow open a close game. Branch led 22-20 after the third quarter in a defensive struggle. Branch led 8-7 after the opening quarter and took a 12-11 lead into halftime despite no field goals and just four free throws in the second quarter.
Lily Kotula posted a double-double to lead Branch with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Sidney Crouch added 9 points, Kinley Hawkins had 7 points and 4 steals, and Kelsey Inman contributed with 7 points for the Lady Falcons.
Flowery Branch next will play host to Johnson on Tuesday.
