Georgia vs. Charlotte key matchups

Good Friday afternoon, Dawg fans! We’ve nearly reached the finish line of the college football regular season, with only two weeks remaining. The Georgia Bulldogs have made it through their challenging conference slate, finishing 7–1 in SEC play, and now look to finish strong against Charlotte and Georgia Tech.

Many people, myself included, already have their eyes on that matchup against the Yellow Jackets at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in a couple of weeks. But first, Georgia has to take care of business against the Charlotte 49ers tomorrow afternoon. The Dawgs enter the game at 9–1 overall and have moved up a spot to No. 4 in the latest CFP rankings.

Tomorrow’s game is scheduled for a 12:45 p.m. ET kickoff and will air on the SEC Network.

For the first time since Week 2 against Austin Peay, there isn’t a particularly compelling matchup to watch heading into this weekend. Charlotte has had a difficult season, reflected in their 1–9 record. The biggest bright spot for the 49ers is senior linebacker Reid Williford, who leads the team with 60 tackles and four sacks. Georgia’s offensive line and tight ends will need to ensure he doesn’t disrupt their game plan. Still, it’s clear that Georgia holds the advantage in every aspect of this matchup, and as a program, this should result in a decisive win in Athens.

That said, the Dawgs can’t let that confidence turn into complacency. They’ll still need to maintain attention to detail and play with the physicality and toughness that Coach Smart constantly preaches. I have no doubt this team will be ready to handle business.

Prediction: Georgia 45, Charlotte 9

Like many others, I expect a blowout. Charlotte is simply an inferior program compared to Georgia, especially with the Dawgs playing their best football of the season. No disrespect, that’s just the reality. Georgia must also avoid looking ahead to Georgia Tech and allowing the 49ers to linger longer than they should. The Dawgs must get through this one healthy; this is not the time for key injuries with the playoffs and a potential conference championship berth approaching.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your Friday and another great weekend of college football. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. And one last thing: GUNNER STOCKTON FOR HEISMAN!!!

As always, GO DAWGS!
