The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has identified the person found dead in a Toccoa motel Thursday morning, Nov. 13.
The GBI issued a statement late Friday, identifying the person found as Dennis Paul Clouse, age 50 of Toccoa.
Clouse was found dead inside a room at the Toccoa Motel on S. Pond Road at around 10:40 a.m. by motel staff, who then called police. The room was reportedly registered as the guest in the room, with no other guests known to be staying in that room at the time, according to the GBI.
The GBI added that Clouse’s death appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no evidence of a threat to the public. Clouse’s body has been taken to the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur for autopsy.
The investigation is ongoing.

Details are limited but the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working with Toccoa Police Department to learn more about the recent death of a motel occupant.
A social media post by Toccoa Police Department on Thursday indicates that, “The Toccoa Police Department is currently investigating a death that occurred at the Toccoa Motel earlier today.
According to initial reports, motel management attempted to enter one of the rooms and observed a significant amount of blood. Officers responded to the scene and located one deceased male inside the room.”
The post also said that the incident is believed to be isolated with no danger to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Toccoa Police said the Georgia Bureau of Investigations has been called in to assist with the case.
