Our Game of the Week is Commerce vs Franklin County. The boys matchup is a battle of top-10s with Commerce at #4 and Franklin at #7. The Commerce girls are on the verge of the top-10, and Franklin is unraked.

COMMERCE VS FRANKLIN GIRLS

The Lady Tigers were set to be improved under first year coach Michael Palmer, but to start out like this wasn’t on most people’s bingo cards. Commerce has surged, as Lakeview transfer Taylor Clark has been averaging 13.7 points per game and a ridiculous 6.3 steals. Vi’Tory Williams is also at 12.4 PPG and 4.3 RPG. Freshman phenom Niya Daniels is at 12.4 PPG and 9.0 RPG. It’s a team chuck full of talent and sitting at 7-0 coming in. Franklin is a solid team (2-1 overall) though the Lady Lions’ split against Oglethorpe in such drastic outcomes (34-point win, 24-point loss) is a head-scratcher.

COMMERCE VS FRANKLIN BOYS

The Tigers are off to a start we all figured they would be at 4-0. This is the #4-ranked team in the state, and mostly full of juniors. This season was long on the radar with guys like Maki Mitchell, Ty Sorrells, Essien Lockleer, Bryson Parks, and Mason Brown. This team is so well-coached and talented. Franklin County is incredibly-gifted as well with 1,000-point scorer Bentley Huff leading the charge. The Lions are 4-0 also coming in, and ready to see how they stack as the #7-ranked team in 2A.
