After eyewitness videos showed a man being arrested by Hall County and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials Monday night outside of the Cricket Wireless on Browns Bridge Road, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) confirmed arrest details.

37-year-old Joseph Russell Harris of Gainesville was being investigated for suspected illegal narcotics activities for “several months” before Monday’s arrest.

When investigators learned he might be at the shopping center, an HCSO narcotics K-9 team responded to the scene along with investigators. That’s when a K-9 reportedly alerted to the presence of drugs in Harris’ vehicle.

A search of Harris’ vehicle allegedly yielded 45-grams of fentanyl, 30-grams of methamphetamine, 19-grams of cocaine, and 35-grams of marijuana. The street value of those drugs was valued at $11,200.

Investigators also found two 9mm pistols and $3,890 in cash.

Harris was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

  • Trafficking fentanyl
  • Trafficking meth
  • Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of firearm during the commission of a crime
  • Two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Hold for Gwinnett County probation violation

Harris remains in the Hall County Jail without bond.
