The Gainesville City School System said Wednesday that the Class of 2025 had a Composite
Average Score of 22.3, an increase from the average score of 20.4 in 2024.
The average results exceed both the Georgia state average of 21.4 and the national average of 19.4.
“Exceeding both the state and national averages is a significant milestone and a testament to the high-quality instruction provided by our talented staff and the strong support from our community and Board of Education,” Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Williams, “This success demonstrates that our focus on providing a challenging and supportive learning environment is preparing our students for their next chapter in life.”
The district also highlighted the performance across all subject areas tested:
• English: GCSS average of 21.6
• Mathematics: GCSS average of 21.9
• Reading: GCSS average of 23.1
• Science: GCSS average of 22.3
“Achieving these scores not only validates our commitment to academic rigor but also significantly enhances our students’ opportunities for college admission and scholarships,” stated Gainesville High School Principal Roberto Rivera. “With 2025 graduates now attending Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, Rice University, and many amazing Georgia institutions, graduates are leveraging this success to reach their future goals. Congratulations to everyone!”
