Ga. AG’s threat; Unruly passenger; Gift cards a ‘no-no’; WWII airman finally home; Naked would-be carjacker

*Georgia’s attorney general is threatening to prosecute businesses that don’t suspend the gas tax. Attorney General Chris Carr said that any gas station that doesn’t deduct the gas tax will be investigated and potentially brought to court. This is in response to legislation signed by Governor Brian Kemp to suspend Georgia’s gas tax for 60 days.

*The FBI is investigating after an unruly passenger reportedly made a bomb threat on a flight from Columbus to Atlanta yesterday. Officials with Frontier Airlines say one of their planes was diverted to an isolated runway at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after the passenger made a verbal threat as pilots taxied toward their destination terminal shortly after 5 p.m. Federal agents and local police responded, later announcing that the threat was not credible.  
 
*TSA workers at Hartsfield-Jackson airport were told to return $1,000 gift cards that had been distributed by representatives of Tyler Perry. Perry first tried to give workers cash, then turned to gift cards after being told federal rules did not allow direct cash gifts. Workers had received the cards as they continued working without pay during the government shutdown.

*The remains of a World War II Army airman from Georgia will be returned to his family for burial. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that the remains of Private Bennett Waters of Blackshear were identified and will be sent home. Waters was assigned to the 17th Bombardment Squadron on the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines. According to the DPAA, he was captured by Japanese soldiers in April 1942.

*Police in Morrow arrested a naked man Saturday night after they say he tried to carjack a homeowner at gunpoint. But he didn’t give up easily. He was arrested only after he barricaded himself in a house.
