Two Forsyth County departments are kicking off their annual giving programs.
The Forsyth County Fire Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys and new or gently used coats 23rd annual Aerial’s House program. At the same time, Forsyth County Senior Services are inviting residents to participate in three programs to support senior citizens.
FCFD’s collection is asking for items for local children in need between the ages of newborn and 18 years old. Gifts can be dropped off at any Forsyth County fire station, the Fire Department Headquarters (3520 Settingdown Road) or any of the Forsyth County Public Libraries beginning Nov. 10 through Dec. 7
In December, donations for Aerial’s House may also be dropped off inside the lobby of the Forsyth County Administration Building (110 E. Main St.) underneath the lobby Christmas tree.
“The Fire Department looks forward to this initiative every year,” Forsyth County Fire Chief Barry Head said. “We appreciate the community’s support as we work together to bring joy to families all over the county.”
In 2024, over 8,000 toys were collected during the drive, helping to provide a brighter Christmas for nearly 2,300 Forsyth County children. In addition, over 225 coats were collected and distributed. The initiative gets its name from a piece of equipment which is used by the Fire Department, known as an aerial ladder truck.
Meanwhile, the senior services programs are as follows:
