The Georgia Department of Education has selected Forsyth County Schools to be one of three districts statewide to receive Economic Development Partnership designation for Fiscal Year 2025.
The partnership is a joint effort of the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Economic Developers Assocation and Georgia Power.
“Districts receiving the designation participated in a certification process that prepared them to adopt best practices and behaviors that support economic development and align education with key regional industries,” a statement by the Georgia Department of Education said. “EDP elevates the capacity of the school systems to serve as essential partners in their communities’ business recruitment and expansion strategies and as catalysts for talent pipeline development.”
Forsyth County Schools received the designation, along with Glynn County and Twiggs County school districts. The Georgia Power Foundation has donated over $110,000 since 2022 in grant funds for districts pursuing the designation.
Several school districts have already been accepted into the EDP process for Fiscal Year 2026, including Lumpkin County Schools and Clarke County Schools.
