HOSCHTON, Ga. – Jackson County is moving on to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs after winning its first-ever playoff game in program history in a 50-7 rout of Glynn Academy Friday night.

Silas McDaniel got the scoring started with a rushing touchdown on the first offensive play of the night for the Panthers, and it kept rolling from there as Daylan Maxwell found paydirt on back-to-back drives from the 10-yard line to take a 22-0 lead into the second quarter.

RJ Knapp got the passing going in the second stanza, finding McDaniel with 26 seconds to play before halftime to lead 29-0 at the break. The momentum stayed with the Panthers coming out of halftime as Noah Bade took the opening kickoff to the house and Maxwell ran right side for 75 yards to take a 43-0 lead just three minutes into the second half, giving the Panthers plenty of cushion to get to the second round.

Maxwell broke the school record Friday night for rushing yards and total touchdowns in a season, now sitting at 24.

The Panthers will host Milton next week. The Eagles knocked off Shiloh in their opening round game, 35-17.
