The Flowery Branch City Council voted  Thursday to approve a Memorandum of Understanding  with a development company as a part of its “Phase 2” development of its Downtown Area.

The MOU is with Penn Hodge, LLC to help the city develop its “Old Town” to create walkable, mix-use developments within the area. Over time, the city has acquired properties near the downtown area for municipal or redevelopment purposes. The MOU provides Penn Hodge, LLC with the exclusive rights to develop those properties in one or more phases to create retail, office or residential spaces within the area.

No specific ideas for the properties have been announced, but Flowery Branch Mayor Edward Asbridge shared his excitement for what is to come.

“I think [ residents] are going to like it,” he said.  “Whatever we do, whatever is decided on, it’s going to be good… [It will] just make another good thing for living and Flowery Branch.”
