A fire at a Buford business Saturday evening consumed an entire office building in the 4500 block of Nelson Brogdon Boulevard.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said a 911 caller reported seeing smoke and flames at Benchmark Physical Therapy. Firefighters responded to the business at around 7:17 p.m. to find the two-story office building with fire in the roof and attic above the main level.
Fire crews deployed hoselines and searched the building for victims. At that same moment, the roof of the building collapsed, and all fire crews exited the building.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 7:42 p.m., and crews entered the building to extinguish the remaining flames.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries during fire ground operations and was transported to a local hospital.
The business keyholder reported that they had left the office the day before and had not returned since.
Fire investigators stated that the cause of the fire was unknown, but it originated in the attic space of the business.
HazMat-20 responded to the scene for drone operations due to the roof collapse.
