Fiesta Bowl Preview/How To Watch/Open Thread

Apparently, college football season isn’t over.

It certainly may feel that way to Bulldog fans who have moved on to the twists and turns of the transfer portal and (I can’t believe I’m typing this) basketball season. But four teams remain in the hunt to hoist the Dr. Pepper national championship trophy. Two of them will face off tonight in a matchup that Bulldog fans hoped not to see.

Carson Beck will lead his Miami Hurricanes into action against the Ole Miss team that knocked the Bulldogs out of contention in tonight’s Fiesta Bowl. Kickoff from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., is set for 7:30 p.m. Athens Standard Time. Television coverage will be, as one would expect, on ESPN and the Disney family of stations.

The Hurricanes are 3.5 point favorites according to the folks at FanDuel, thanks in part to one of the most vicious pass rush attacks in college football. That sounds about right to me assuming Trinidad Chambliss doesn’t go absolutely out of his mind for ten minutes the way he did during the 4th quarter against the Red and Black.

It will also be interesting see which Carson Beck shows up. Under two turnovers Carson Beck may well be headed to a national title game. Over two turnovers Carson Beck is likely headed back to Coral Gables to buff his Lambo.

If you just can’t bring yourself to watch this one I would totally understand. But be aware that we’re about to head into the cruel months of the offseason. There may come a time this June when the Braves have morphed into the Barves and you’re cleaning the gutters when you wish you had the chance to watch Mario Cristobal engage in clock management malpractice. Take that chance while you still can.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
