Six area teams found themselves on the right side of the scoreboard Friday night to advance to the second round of the GHSA playoffs.
In the Class 3A bracket, North Hall routed Mt. Zion-Jonesboro, while Jefferson blew past Dougherty. Cherokee Bluff and Lumpkin County fell in their games.
In Class 5A, Gainesville and Jackson County showed off with big wins, including the first in program history for the Panthers in the playoffs. In Class 6A, Buford shut out Richmond Hill.
Rabun County also advanced with a big win over Dodge County in the Class A Division 1 bracket.
