A teenage driver from Cleveland has died and another driver was injured and faces pending charges from a two-vehicle wreck in Lumpkin County on Tuesday.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said the crash happened along Town Creek Church Road at the intersection of Carriage Court just before 4:00 p.m.

The crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 34-year-old Joshua Webb of Sautee Nacoochee and a 2002 Ford Ranger driven by 16-year-old Jonah Seabolt of Cleveland.

The GSP report said Webb was allegedly under the influence and distracted by his cellphone while driving his Tahoe north on Town Creek Church Road and crossed the centerline, striking the front of Seabolt’s Ranger.

The GSP says that Seabolt died from his injuries at the crash scene while Webb was transported by Lumpkin County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville for injuries.

The report indicated that neither driver had their seatbelts on at the time of the collision. The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office’s (LCSO’s) social media page reported the intersection was blocked until 7:00 p.m. from the collision.

Webb has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the first-degree, failure to maintain lane, DUI, distracted driving, driving without a license, and no seatbelt.

The investigation remains active, and all information is preliminary.
