As fraud continues to rise across the country, Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators are
taking another step to educate local citizens on how they can protect themselves and their money
from scammers.

HCSO NEWS RELEASE:

“HCSO will host a scam awareness event on Wednesday, March 25, at the Mulberry Creek
Community Center in Flowery Branch. Investigators with HCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU),
along with representatives from the FBI, Peach State Bank & Trust and United Community Bank will discuss fraud trends they are seeing locally. They will also offer practical advice on how to avoid victimization.

“While our investigators have been guest speakers on the topic of scam awareness at small
gatherings for various community, church and business groups, we wanted to open up a larger
space so that more people can learn about how to protect themselves from this kind of criminal
activity,” said SIU Capt. Dan Franklin. “We’re hoping this will be just the first of many educational
events for our citizens.”

There is no need to register for the event, but seating space is limited. The program is free to the
public.
