A collision with fatal results in Gainesville is under local police investigation as commuters are asked to seek alternate routes.
The social media post after 8:15 a.m. by Gainesville Police Department indicates that a pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak commuter train along the tracks by the crossing of Athens Street by the intersection of Purina Drive. The area has been blocked off by local and Hall County law enforcement while authorities conduct their investigation and attempt to clear the area.
