Cumming’s FurKids is assisting Hall County Animal Control which has seen its population swell by more than 100 as a result of two recent raids on residences where scores of critters were being hoarded.
A statement from FurKids says they got a call from Hall County saying they were in dire need of help after taking in 82 Beagles from one of the hoarding situations and they quickly decided to lend a hand.
“We made room in our already-full shelter for the arrival of 19 dogs,” a statement from FurKids says. “(Monday) we picked up another, bringing the total to 20 dogs – 19 beagles and one terrier mix who has spent years living without proper care, safety, and kindness.
“When they arrived, they were terrified and unsure of the world around them. As our team began caring for them, it became clear this was the first time they had ever known gentle hands and the simple comfort of feeling safe. Their journey is just beginning, especially for Baylee and Betsy.”
Baylee, a 10-year-old Beagle, has a severe inguinal hernia that requires surgery from a specialist, along with extensive dental care. Betsy is missing her foot and part of her leg – which will be amputated – due to an unknown past trauma.
“We could really use your help. Nearly all of the dogs we rescued require intense dental procedures to live a pain-free life, and our estimated cost for this case alone is expected to reach over $25,000. Your donations allow us to say yes when we get these kinds of calls for help.
