Cross Country State Championship Results

Several of our local squads took part in the GHSA (or GIAA) State Championships. Here are those results.

CLASS 3A

Dawson County

The Lady Tigers were 3rd in the state, with Hayden Hand (20:21) coming in 4th. Addison Smith was 26th (22:21), Maria Gloeckner (22:25) 28th, and Ella Carrington (22:28) 29th. The Dawson boys were 17th as a team, led by River Rayburn in 64th with a 19:42, with Luke Wooten (20:10) in 87th.

Jefferson

The Lady Dragons placed 6th overall, with Lily Whitmire (20:58) coming in 10th and Hannah Schroeder (21:34) 15th. The Jefferson boys came in 9th, as William Malueg coming in 27th with a 18:30 time. Ben Schroeder (19:27) was 53rd.

Lumpkin County

The Indians came in 3rd as a team, with Witt Windham (16:36) coming in as the State RU. Evan Good (18:07) was 19th. The Lady Indians were 12th overall, as Keli George finished 11th with a 21:06 and Joanie Phillabaum 27th with a 22:23.

White County

The White County girls came in 4th as a team, with Julie Black (20:29) placing 5th. Carly Black (20:43) was 7th and Emma Windham (21:21) was 14th. The Warriors were 12th overall and led by Alex Brannon (18:02) at 16th and Aiden Cline 20th at 18:08.

CLASS 2A

Union County

The Panthers finished 3rd in the state. Holden Payne (17:30) was the individual RU in the state. Andrew Nushtayev (18:57) was 27th and Ander Faulkner (19:00) 29th. The Lady Panthers came in 4th as a team. Lola Hunter (22:40) was 9th individually, with Avery Hussion (24:12) 21st and Macy Payne (24:23) 24th.

Franklin County

The Lions came in 6th as a team, though Will Gipson (17:09) was the individual state champion. Evan Locke (19:02) was 30th. The Franklin girls came in fifth. Savannah Jackson was 7th with a 22:35, and Megan Hightower (23:32) was 14th.

CLASS 1A DI

Banks County

The Lady Leopards were 8th at the meet as a team. Ansley Moore was the State RU with a 20:11 final time. Bailey Baker (24:45) was 45th.

Commerce

Will Cox (18:28) finished 20th individually, as the sole representative of Commerce on either side.

Rabun County

The Lady Wildcats finished 14th in the meet. Kinley Jones had a great run, coming in 10th place at 21:08. Esmeralda Hernandez (25:42) was 65th.

CLASS 1A DII

Towns County

The Lady Indians finished 14th, as Joyce Hou (26:56) led with a 36th-place run, followed by Mary Durham (65th, 29:45).

GIAA

Tallulah Falls

The Lady Indians finished as the State Runner-Up (program record) with JR Olivia Henderson (20:36) placing a record 3rd-place individually. JR Avery Keim (22:07) was 15th, and SO Carol Pinho (22:13) was 18th to put three in the top-20.

The Indians were represented individually by juniors Tegan Penland (17:00) who came in 9th, and Ryan Anderson (18:58) who came in 34th.
