At long last, the conclusion of the college football season is upon us. Indiana and Miami will meet tonight to answer the question once and for all: whose boosters bought the best roster of players developed by other, more competent coaching staffs?
Or maybe that’s just me being bitter.
All kidding aside, Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Hoosiers are a prohibitive 7.5 favorite over the Miami Hurricanes. But who are fans picking to win it all? Well, turns out readers responding to our SB Nation Reacts poll also have their money on the Hoosiers:

I think that’s certainly the safe bet. Indiana hasn’t really been challenged this season by anyone other than the Ohio State team that took them down to the wire in the Big Ten title game. Miami and Carson Beck on the other hand, in addition to their regular season losses to Louisville and SMU, have scraped their way through the playoffs.
It’s also worth noting that fans don’t seem to be rooting for the underdog Hurricanes, either.

That also makes sense given that, while they’ve haven’t been that impressive over the past few years, Miami are one of college football’s traditional powerhouse programs. Indiana however is a perennial doormat, and has been for decades. Even if, like me, you find Curt Cignetti’s over-the-top schtick as grating as nails on a chalkboard, there’s no denying the Hoosiers are a great story.
We’ll be back with one final football open thread this evening. But for now, who are you picking tonight? And is that the team you’re actually hoping wins?
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
