Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season rolls on and the action will continue with an AFC showdown featuring the Jacksonville Jaguars visiting the Las Vegas Raiders at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.
The Jaguars are back in action after their bye last week and they needed it after getting boatraced by the Rams 35-7 in London two Sunday’s ago. Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. will also be back in action and he’ll really have to step it up for the team in the second half of the regular season.
Below, we’ll go over Thomas’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 9.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.
Thomas only caught three of seven targets for 31 yards in their blowout loss to the Rams two weeks ago, his second-lowest output of the season. The second-year LSU product has been one of the bigger disappointments in all of fantasy football so far, ranking in the 35-40 range of receivers despite being a top-10 wideout in ADP entering the season. Whether it’s him leading the league in drops with nine or just not quite gelling in Grant Udinski’s offense, he hasn’t found a groove an it’s even led to some trade speculation ahead of the deadline.
The Jags will need their top receiver to step up in the coming weeks as they try to keep pace in the AFC playoff hunt. That’s especially true now with first-round rookie Travis Hunter going on IR with a knee injury this week. We’ll see if Thomas can deliver starting this week.

Start. Despite underperforming this year, Thomas has still scraped together start-worthy numbers and is just a few weeks removed from his 90-yard, one-touchdown effort against the Seahawks. Hunter’s injury means that he will be in line for more targets and I’d give him the green light against the lowly Raiders this week.
