Boys basketball: Branch, Bluff, Union, Lakeview all win

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Flowery Branch rallied in the second half to knock off Jackson County, 63-49, on Tuesday at home.

After taking a 16-8 lead in the first quarter, the Falcons fell behind 28-24 at halftime.

But Flowery Branch came out on fire in the second half, behind Brayden Lee’s 12-point third-quarter outburst to take the lead 44-37.

Lee finished with a game-high 23 points and added eight points in the Falcons’ 19-point third quarter.

The Falcons outscored Jackson County 39-21 in the second half.

Remington Akins added 16, and Adam Sanders chipped in 12 points in the Falcons’ win.

Memphis Beard led the Panthers with 15 points.

Cherokee Bluff 96, Lanier Christian 65: Jordan Hayes scored 23 points and four others finished in double digits to pace the Bears past LCA at home on Tuesday.

Hayes scored 17 of his team-high 23 points in the first half to lift the Bears to a 50-32 lead at halftime.

Alex Blurton, Cooper Glover and Connor Robinson scored 14 points each, while Luke Nordholz added 12.

Bluff outscored LCA 46-33 in the second half.

Mekhi Barber led the Lightning with 26 points, Jake Batusic had 15, and Xavier Barber finished with 13.

Union County 82, Gilmer 47: Vince Marevka and Ryland Chambers scored 17 points each to lead the Panthers past Gilmer on Tuesday.

Hogsed, Payne and Marevka combined for 34 of the Panthers’ 44 first-half points to take a 44-26 lead at halftime.

The Panthers continued to pour it on in the third quarter, behind Chambers, who added 10 points in the quarter, to take a 69-30 advantage after 24 minutes of play.

Holden Payne had 13 points, Ethan Hogsed had 11 and Jackson Nichols scored 8.

Lakeview Academy 77, Riverside 33: Parker Waugh and Will Rogers scored 15 points to lead the Lions past Riverside Prep on the road Tuesday.
Christian Fragoso and Kyari Burch added 1o, and Lewis Roberts had 9.
